Launch of the world's first liquid hydrogen carrier

On December 11, the Kawasaki Heavy Industries (KHI) in Japan held the launching ceremony of the world's first liquid hydrogen transport ship. The carrier will be completed in the fall of 2020.

Kawasaki Heavy Industries, in conjunction with Marubeni, J-POWER, and Anglo-Dutch Shell Oil, is pushing ahead with plans to use low-cost coal mined in Australia to make hydrogen and then export it to Japan. In 2020, verification will be started to use this transport ship to ship hydrogen produced in Australia to Japan.
